About Us

In the year 2015 Travis Mueller (President) and myself, Hilary Heard (Vice President), along with our parents Randy and Chris Mueller moved into our current building on Shiloh Road. It was our intention to move our two current businesses into a larger facility giving us more room to grow. Once we were in and settled, it set in that the facility was already equipped to be a scrap yard, so we figured, “why not?” We started Door County Scrap Metal officially on and have been growing strong ever since. Since then, Randy, our dad, passed away in the Fall of 2018, however Travis, me, and Chris, our mom, are still here on a day-to-day basis. Mom does hope to retire soon, but Travis and I are here to stay, keeping our business a staple in Door County.

We feel it is important for Door County to have a truly locally owned and operated scrap yard. Our slogan which we do our best to live by is “Investing in Community.” We want to build a business that will ultimately allow us to support not only ourselves but also the community we and our families will grow up in. One of our most popular community events happens yearly in November and December with our Christmas Light Drive benefiting Door County Toys for Kids. For a duration of those months, we collect broken or outdated holiday lights and donate the money made to a group that helps make Christmas great for those in our community who may need extra help.

Having a great environment for our staff to work in helps us to allow our customers to have a great experience while they are here. While you are here, you will be assisted by our staff who are friendly and helpful. We want your experience at our facility to be as comfortable as possible.
